We’re getting married on 26 June 2027 at a bastide in the Luberon, among lavender, olive trees and cicadas. We’ve embroidered this invitation to tell you how it all began and everything you need to know to join us.
We met one Saturday in July at a village market in the Luberon. Adèle was hunting for antique silk threads at a haberdasher’s stall; next door, Bastien was selling his grandmother’s lavender bunches. A mauve skein ended up in the wrong bag, and he crossed half the village to bring it back.
She restores old embroidery; he looks after gardens that take years to grow. We both know that beautiful things are made slowly: one stitch, one season, one long conversation under a plane tree.
Last summer, Bastien gave her a linen handkerchief with a question he had embroidered himself — crooked stitches, one thread running loose. Adèle said yes, and then showed him how to finish it off.
