Step into the garden

For you, with all our love

First layer

Layer by layer, we have cut out the garden where we are to be married.

We met reaching for the same paper book. This summer we want to open a real one, with you inside: a walled garden, a small chapel and a long night beneath the lanterns.

Second layer · You are invited to our wedding

Together with their families, Rosalie Ashdown and Teo Ferrer request the pleasure of your company at their marriage in the chapel at Avonmere House, and afterwards in the garden until late into the night.

Our story

Four folds, from a paper fair to a garden.

Bath

An antique tunnel book in a glass case and two hands reaching for it.

The paper fair

Bath, spring 2019. An antique paper fair, an 1820 tunnel book in a glass case and two hands that reached it at the same moment. She won; he stayed on to ask how you restore a peephole.

Valencia

A little puppet theatre hung with paper stars.

Paper stars

Valencia, 2021. He was building sets for a puppet theatre; she came to the opening night and stayed on to cut paper stars until three in the morning.

Avonmere

An open tunnel book with a ring in its last layer.

The last layer

Avonmere, 2024. Teo cut a six-layer tunnel book by hand: the house, the hedges, the sweet peas. In the last layer, instead of a garden, there was a ring.

Avonmere

The walled garden at Avonmere, full of sweet peas.

The garden

Avonmere, 2027. Now the book is real and there is room for everyone. Come in slowly: we made every layer with you in mind.

For our guests

Everything practical, in its pocket.

Where to stay

We have reserved rooms at two hotels in Bath, twenty minutes away. Write to us and we will send you the booking code.

Travel and parking

Train to Bath Spa, then a shuttle bus from the station at 14:45. There is parking by the gatehouse, two minutes’ walk from the chapel.

Children

Little ones are very welcome: they will have their own table, paper storybooks and a nanny from dinner onwards.

Gifts

Your presence is the best gift of all. If you would like to give something, there will be a card box in the orangery.

Weather and what to wear

July in Somerset is mild and changeable: bring a light jacket for the evening. There will be umbrellas at the gatehouse.

Accessibility

The paths are gravel and lawn; an electric buggy will run between the chapel and the orangery for anyone who needs it. Let us know and we will have it ready.
