Fresco restorer

Bianca was born in Brescia and spends her days up a scaffold with a brush the size of an eyelash. She collects odd teacups and knows the name of every pigment.

Edoardo

Botanist

Edoardo grew up among his grandfather’s glasshouses in Verona. He looks after historic gardens, talks to plants and makes the best lemonade on the lake.

Since 2021

Our story

Bianca was restoring a ceiling of frescoed flowers in a lakeside villa; Edoardo arrived one morning to save the gardenias in its glasshouse, which had been ailing for two winters. For weeks we worked one above the other: she among the scaffolding, he among the flowerpots.

When the ceiling bloomed again, so did the gardenias. Six years later we are going back to the lake to celebrate with you, in the garden of the lemon trees.

    The first flower Edoardo saved ended up in a glass of water on Bianca’s worktable.

The programme

A June evening by the lake, from the pier to the last dance.

  1. Arrival by boat

    A wooden motorboat will collect you from the Gardone pier and bring you to the villa.

  2. Ceremony on the lake terrace

    Beneath an arch of gardenias, with the water and the mountains beyond.

  3. Drinks among the gardenias

    Elderflower spritz, homemade lemonade and a string trio in the garden.

  4. Dinner in the limonaia

    Long tables among century-old lemon trees, candlelight and gold-rimmed porcelain.

  5. Cake and dancing

    And then music on the terrace until the lights on the lake go out.

Dress code

Garden formal

Soft, pale tones, like the paper of the invitation: ivory, champagne, sage, taupe and blush. Light, flowing fabrics.

The terrace is stone and the garden is gravel: block heels are best. In the evening a breeze comes off the lake; bring a wrap.

  • By boat

    Boats will leave the Gardone pier at 16:00 and 16:20; returning at 1:00 and 2:00. Sample times.

  • Where to stay

    Garden hotels and guesthouses in Gardone, Salò and Sirmione. On a real website, our list with booking codes would go here.

  • By car

    There is parking by the villa gate; from there, a five-minute walk among olive trees leads down to the terrace.
