At the manor, one June afternoon

Santiago, a drizzly summer

Our story

We met on a drizzly afternoon in Santiago, sharing an umbrella under the stone arcades. Chiara had come from Turin for one summer; Tomás offered to walk her “just to the corner”. We ended up at the far end of the Alameda.

Seven summers and a great many hydrangeas later, we are going back to Tomás’s homeland to be married among granite, camellias and the light of the ría, with the people we love most.

Chiara and Tomás would love you to join them for their wedding at a granite manor house in the Rías Baixas.

The day

A Saturday in July, from the “I do” in the chapel to the queimada.

  1. 1:00 pm

    Ceremony

    In the manor’s stone chapel, its doors open onto the garden.

  2. 2:00 pm

    Wine among the hydrangeas

    Albariño, empanada and a string quartet by the pool.

  3. 3:30 pm

    Lunch under the camellias

    Long tables in the shade of century-old camellias.

  4. 7:00 pm

    Foliada

    Bagpipes, tambourines and the couple’s first muiñeira.

  5. 9:00 pm

    Dancing

    On the threshing floor by the hórreo, until the lanterns come on.

  6. 12:30 am

    Queimada

    The traditional spell over the fire, to see the night out.

Everything you need

  • Coaches

    Coaches will leave Santiago and Vigo at 11:45 am, returning at 8 pm, 1 am and 3 am. Sample times.

  • Where to stay

    We have set aside rooms at two hotels on the ría and at nearby country houses. Sample details.

  • Dress code

    Garden formal, ideally in light colours. There is grass and granite paving: block heels or flats, and a wrap for the evening.

  • If the orballo comes

    July is mild, but Galician drizzle does as it pleases: there will be white umbrellas at the entrance and a marquee by the camellias.

  • Gifts

    Your company is the best gift. This demo contains no bank details.
