Margaux and Alessandro would love you to join them for their wedding, one September evening, at a quinta tucked away among the mist and ferns of the Sintra hills.

An 1890 herbarium

Our story

We met in a second-hand bookshop in Lisbon, both reaching for the same book: an 1890 herbarium with watercolour plates of wisteria. Neither of us would let it go, so we shared it over a coffee that lasted all afternoon.

Seven years later we are going back to Portugal, to a quinta in the hills where the wisteria, if the summer is kind, blooms a second time in September. That is where we want to celebrate with you.

The day

One September evening in the hills, from the garden to the last dance.

  1. Ceremony beneath the pergola

    In the wisteria garden, with the hills wrapped in mist beyond.

  2. Drinks on the camellia terrace

    White port, oysters and a string quartet among the ferns.

  3. Dinner in the glasshouse

    Long tables under the glass, candlelight and gold-rimmed porcelain.

  4. First dance

    And then music, until the mist rolls back up the hills.

    A coach will leave central Lisbon at 15:45 and another Sintra station at 16:45, returning at 1:00 and 3:00. Sample times.

  • Where to stay

    Quintas, guesthouses and small hotels in Sintra and along the Cascais coast. On a real website, our list with booking codes would go here.

  • Garden formal

    Soft tones and fabrics that flow. The ceremony is on lawn and gravel, so block heels are best.

  • The mist in the hills

    Evenings turn cool among the trees, even in September: bring a wrap or a light jacket.
