For you, with all our love

She shoots, he strings

A photographer who only works on film and a pearl stringer who ties a silk knot between every pearl.

Solène

Fashion photographer

Solène was born in Lyon and always has a sixties camera over her shoulder. She develops her films in the bathtub and has not taken a colour picture since school.

Gaspard

Pearl stringer

Gaspard learnt the craft in his grandmother’s workshop in Paris. He knows every pearl by its lustre, knots the silk thread by hand and whistles while he works.

“Every pearl has its knot, so that if the thread ever breaks, not a single one is lost.”

Since 2021

Our story

Solène was shooting a fashion editorial in Paris when a pearl necklace snapped mid-frame and a hundred and eight pearls rolled across the studio floor. They called the nearest workshop and Gaspard arrived, with his box of silks and his needles, to restring them one by one, with a knot between each pearl.

It took him all afternoon. She never stopped photographing him. Six years, forty rolls of film and one necklace later, we are going back to the lake where he asked her to marry him, to celebrate with you.

    Issue 03

    2026 · A single pearl

At dawn, on the jetty, a pearl knotted onto a silk thread instead of a ring. She said yes.

“A hundred and eight pearls, a knot between each one and a whole afternoon to fall in love.”

The programme

An August afternoon by the lake, pearl by pearl, from the first toast to the last dance.

  1. Welcome beneath the plane trees

Verbena lemonade, shade and a string orchestra as you arrive.

  2. Ceremony on the lakeside meadow

By the jetty, with the water and the mountains as the only décor.

  3. Champagne and portraits on the terrace

A black-and-white film photo booth: take your developed portrait home.

  4. Dinner in the orangery

Long linen tables, candlelight, antique silver and a menu from the Savoy lakes.

  5. First dance in the hall of mirrors

And then music until the lake goes dark.

  6. Onion soup and farewell

For the road home, in the courtyard, with the last pearls of light.

Every hour is a pearl: touch the necklace and it will sway.
